CMS Extends the Deadline for EHR Incentive Programs to March 11, 2016
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) extended the attestation deadline for the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs to Friday, March 11, 2016, at 10:59 p.m. CT, from the original deadline of Monday, February 29. Eligible professionals, eligible hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) participating in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program can attest through the CMS Registration and Attestation System.
Kansas Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Update: After a recent update to the MAPIR system, which is used to submit adopt/implement/upgrade (A/I/U) and meaningful use (MU) attestation to Kansas Medicaid, the option now exists to submit your 90 day MU attestation. However, the system has not been fully upgraded as the attestation measures are the original MU Stage 1 and 2 measures. Barbara Harbour at HP, the vendor for provider support for MAPIR, has confirmed that Medicaid 2015 MU attestations will not be valid until the upgrade is complete in mid- to late-April. Please wait to submit your MU attestations for 2015 until the upgrade is completed. We will update you as more information becomes available, including the cut-off deadline for submitting 2015 MU attestations. You can still, of course, submit A/I/U attestations through the MAPIR system.
Reminder: 2016 is the last year to begin participation in the Medicaid program. Certain Medicaid eligible professionals may use the Registration and Attestation System as an alternate attestation method to avoid the Medicare payment adjustment (80 FR 62900 through 62901).
To attest to the EHR Incentive Programs in 2015:
- Eligible Professionals may select an EHR reporting period of any continuous 90 days from January 1, 2015, (the start of the 2015 calendar year), through December 31, 2015.
- Eligible Hospitals/CAHs may select an EHR reporting period of any continuous 90 days from October 1, 2014, (the start of the federal fiscal year) through December 31, 2015.
