New Leadership at KFMC
Karen Braman joined the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care (KFMC) on December 1, 2015 as permanent President and CEO. Karen leverages over 20 years of experience in health care, pharmacy and health policy to provide overall leadership and strategy for KFMC.
Prior to joining KFMC, Karen led a team of clinicians and account executives for one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit managers, supporting clinical benefits and formularies for Medicaid plans across multiple states. Additionally, she held a number of key health care positions during a ten year career with the State of Kansas, including in the Health Policy Authority, the Governor’s Office of Health Planning and Finance, and Medicaid. Karen has served as President of the Kansas Board of Pharmacy as well as Chair of the Kansas Health Information Exchange Board. She received her Pharmacy degree and her Master of Science degree from the University of Kansas, and completed an American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency in pharmacy practice at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Integral to Karen’s vision for KFMC are building upon KFMC’s strong foundation as a leader in health improvement and valued partner across our State and region as part of the Great Plains Quality Innovation Network to transform health care delivery, cultivate new partnerships and collaborations, and assist providers with adapting to the changing landscape of value-based health care payment.
