KFMC’s Michelle Spanier Earns Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional Credential
KFMC Health Improvement Partners is pleased to recognize Michelle Spanier, RHIT, CCS, CCEP, Director of Review and Corporate Strategy & Compliance Officer, for earning the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional credential.
Spanier brings more than 25 years of experience in health information, coding, utilization review, contract management and compliance to KFMC. In her role, she provides operational oversight of multidisciplinary review teams and subcontractors while helping ensure KFMC’s programs meet state and federal regulatory requirements, contract terms and applicable industry standards.
As a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, Spanier has extensive experience supporting federal compliance programs, including oversight of Federal Acquisition Regulations and agency-specific requirements. Her work includes monitoring subcontractor compliance, implementing internal controls and ensuring accurate and timely documentation and reporting to support audits, regulatory oversight and ongoing compliance.
“Michelle brings an exceptional depth of knowledge to KFMC’s review and compliance work,” said Sarah Good, KFMC president and CEO. “Her ability to understand complex regulatory requirements while keeping teams, processes and deliverables moving forward is an important part of the quality and integrity we provide to our customers and partners.”
Spanier also serves as a Registered Health Information Technologist and Certified Coding Specialist. Throughout her career at KFMC, she has managed workflows for independent review activities across multiple state and private programs, conducted medical record reviews and provided subject-matter expertise in clinical review and coding.
Her responsibilities also include overseeing policy and procedure development and ongoing review, managing timelines and deliverables, and helping KFMC maintain required accreditations, including URAC accreditation. KFMC first earned URAC accreditation in 2015 and has successfully maintained it through reaccreditation every three years, consistently achieving 100% scores across all evaluated categories. Spanier’s involvement in the accreditation process and her continued work supporting these standards are among the accomplishments she identifies as highlights of her career at KFMC.
The CCEP credential recognizes professionals who demonstrate knowledge of compliance and ethics practices and further strengthens Spanier’s ability to support organizations operating within complex regulatory environments.
